Theatre in exile is a theatre in motion.
Our projects allow Mariupol Theatre to continue creating, connecting, and carrying its stories forward, building new connections while staying rooted in where we come from.

Alaska
National Heroes
A performance about the pursuit of happiness and security in an abusive world.
A devised-documentary performance exploring national identity, democracy, collective memory, war, and sacrifice. Begun before the full-scale invasion, the project was interrupted when the catastrophe it imagined became reality and now asks who the “national heroes” are after the heroic narrative ends.
Following a young girl forced to leave Mariupol because of war, the project grows through the voices and experiences of young people across Europe.

MASC: Fire and Axe to Those Who Bent
Where mourning becomes a way of continuing.
Through music, folklore, testimony, and ritual, the project explores how communities remember, mourn, and rebuild after catastrophe.
A raw exploration of masculinity, violence and the wounds carried through generations.
Drawing on personal testimonies from Ukraine, literature, poetry and research, the performance enters the intimate space of the family, asking what happens when love, vulnerability and belonging become entangled with abuse, shame and power.

Living Library: journeys we carry
Seven people. Seven stories. One space for encounter.
In this Living Library, artists become Living Books, inviting audiences to sit down, listen and enter stories of home, war, displacement, identity, memory and rebuilding a life elsewhere.
